COACH SAM HOHLFELDER

Originally from Champaign, Illinois, Sam attended Mahomet-Seymour High school from 2010-2014 where he played basketball and ran track and field. Sam is a UW-Platteville alum who majored in health and human performance. He started his academic career as a physical education major and switched into the health promotion and exercise science field. He was a member of the UW-Platteville Men’s basketball team as a point guard, where he had a 3-year playing career. Sam was also a student-athlete honor roll student 2 out of his 3 years of playing basketball.

In high school, Sam was a 3-year letter winner in basketball and had a career average of 14 points a game with 5 rebounds, shooting 40% from the 3-point line, and 83% from the free throw line. Sam posted a career high of 38 points vs Belleville east high school who was the #5 ranked school at the time. He was a 2-time all conference player and was picked as a News-Gazette area all-star in his senior year.

In track, Sam was a 4-year letter winner and 3-time first team all-conference and all-area sprinter. He led off a school-record holding 4x400m relay team that got 4th in the state. In his senior year, he was a conference champion in the 400m dash and placed 13th overall in the 2a division in the state of illinois. Following Sam’s athletic career, he coached 7th grade boys basketball at Belmont Community middle school, leading his team to a 10-2 record overall.
