Coach Brandon Toman
My name is Brandon Toman. I grew up in Madison where I graduated from Madison Memorial High School in 2014. I played basketball and football for the Spartans since 4th grade. As a senior I was ranked in the top 5 quarterbacks in the state, and a semifinalist for the award for top quarterback in the state. I committed to play football at the University of Northern Iowa after my senior season. Before attending, I trained at Sports Advantedge with Brian Bott to get ready for college ball. At UNI I discovered my passion for weight training through our red shirt lifting program. I later transferred to the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire where I graduated with a degree in Exercise Science. Prior to graduating, I interned at Sports Advantedge in the summer of 2017 and 2018. I am CSCS and RSCC certified through the NSCA, I also obtain a Speed Specialist certification through the USTFCCA.
I first got into coaching while interning at Sports Advantedge. I changed my major to exercise science in college because I fell in love with weight training and working with athletes. I would use my knowledge from my education and experience being an athlete to help train my siblings and friends for fun. But I fell in love with coaching specifically, at Sports Advantedge. While interning I got to help work with the summer strength program at Madison Memorial that was being run by Brian. Being in that atmosphere, and getting to work with kids that know who I was and some who looked up to me was very rewarding and fed my passion for coaching. The next summer Brian invited me back for another summer of interning where I was at the Verona facility. I got to work with the first Elite groups, youth kids, and the bootcamps. Those experiences alone gave me the confidence as a new coach after I graduated College. After College I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where I worked at a college prep school called Providence Day School. At Providence Day I worked as a Sports Performance Coach where I worked with middle and high school athletes. I got to work with some of the top high school players in the country, as well as various other D1 athletes in other sports.
I coach in hopes of helping other athletes reach their full potential and develop a strong work ethic that will take them to great places not only in their respected sports, but in life too. I am very grateful to be apart of the Edge family.
